In the United Kingdom, pet grooming services are governed by animal welfare laws.

⚠️ Important Information About Matted Fur
Severely matted fur can cause significant harm to pets, including:
❗ Constant pulling on the skin, causing pain
❗ Restricted blood circulation
❗ Skin infections, inflammation, and even
wounds
In serious cases, severe matting may be
considered neglect under UK animal welfare standards.
✂️ Our Matting Policy
To protect the welfare of every dog, we follow these principles:
1️⃣ No Forced De-matting
• We do not brush or pull out severe matting
• This process can cause extreme pain and distress
Forcing out knots may lead to injury and goes against animal welfare standards.
2️⃣ Humane Clipping / Shaving
• In cases of severe matting, we will
recommend:
👉 Safely clipping or shaving the coat
This is the most humane and safest method to remove matting and allow healthy regrowth.
3️⃣ Welfare Comes First
• We strongly believe: “A pet’s health and
comfort
always come before appearance.
• We reserve the right to refuse any grooming style that may cause discomfort or harm
🐕 Owner Responsibility

• Regular grooming and brushing
• Preventing matting from developing
• Maintaining routine grooming appointments
Ongoing severe matting may be considered a failure to meet animal welfare obligations
